Another must win game for the Lions on a gusty day, Carlton started to kick with the wind to their backs.
It was an edgy first half for both teams with Carlton having the better chances with Ousman Sagnia going on to hit the crossbar. Lots of chances but none converted.
The second half came along and the Trowell goalkeeper was the only element keeping his team in the game. Carlton hit the bar and won numerous corners but could not find a way past the keeper.
9 minutes left and Carlton got their breakthrough from the in-form Connor Pauley who found a way past the keeper to the relief of the manager, John Kilcullen. 1-0 to the Lions.
Carlton kept it tight at the back and managed to break through again with Pauley crossing in for top scorer Dan Chambers to net his 24th of the season.
3 games left and sitting nicely for promotion – it’s in Carlton’s hands.
