Activities to Keep the Kids Occupied this Half Term

If you are looking for activities to keep your kids occupied this February half-term, then the Nottingham City Council website, asklion.co.uk has listed a number of events that are going on in different parts of Nottinghamshire.

The Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity is running from the 5th to the 16th February with a whole host of events taking place over the course of next week throughout the county. With events such as Habitat Walks, Science Fun Days and Inflatable Planetarium Shows, there is something for everyone and a full schedule can be found HERE.

The Green’s Mill in Sneinton is offering a variety of half-term activities. You can join them for Holiday Fun workshops, where you’ll have the opportunity to master the art of baking bread, cupcakes, and other treats. Discover the process of flour production, explore the mill through climbing, and conduct experiments just like a scientist. Celebrate British Science Week by exploring our interactive science centre. Engage directly with the exhibits that captivated George Green, our miller with a passion for mathematics.

Lakeside Arts, situated on the University of Nottingham Campus are getting in on the act with a Clay Animation Workshop, Screen Printing Workshop, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet, The Chemistry of the Paintbox and more.

Between Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th, Nottingham Contemporary will be offering a family activity titled Points Of View. Their website offers the following preview to their half-term activity:

“Can we see over it, can we see under it? Oh, we can see through it! Join in to make a sculpture that changes our viewpoint. Take a peek, have a look, go round or go through. Play between as the sculptures grow, connect, and occupy the space. Oh, and don’t forget to take a selfie!”

Their workshops are drop-in; however, they invite you to book a space for a session as spaces are limited. More details can be found HERE.

Finally, the National Ice Centre is running holiday clubs for those aged between 7-13. They state they’ve got an exciting schedule to help children develop skills and boost confidence to enable them to be prepared for future ice skating lessons.

Whatever you choose to do with your children this half-term, we hope you have loads of fun!
